The Al G. Barnes had always been based in the far west and California most of it’s career. It was renowned for its wild animal acts. This show grew into a huge 5 ring circus. Big names in the business had been on the Al G. Barnes Circus such as Lucia Zora and Mabel Stark. The American Circus Corporation bought the Al G. Barnes Circus for $150,000.00 on December 28, 1928. Ed Ballard had loaned the American Circus Corporation an additional $250,000 on a one year note to finance the purchase. The show continued to operate from its California base.
